Jan Hutchinson Wins 1,100th in Softball as Bloomsburg Sweeps

BLOOMSBURG-- Bloomsburg University softball coach Jan Hutchinson won the 1,100th of her softball coaching career as the Huskies two games from East Stroudsburg on Saturday by scores of 3-0 and 5-1.
Hutchinson, who is the all-time leader in NCAA Division II softball victories, has a career record of 1,100-260-2 in her 31st season as head coach. In addition, she has a record of 546-73-20 as head field hockey coach.
In game one, the Huskies scored single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings. Bloomsburg got its first run in the third inning when Tiff Corliss (Lewisburg/Mifflinburg) doubled to lead off the inning and went to third on a single by Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport), Corliss then scored when Reed stole second and there was an error on the play. The Huskies made it 2-0 in the fourth when Lacy Mauro (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) doubled and later scored on a Jess Rosin (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) single, while in the fifth Nikki Shiko (Kulpmont/Southern Columbia) singled and later scored on a two-out triple by Lori Neyhard (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia).
Rosin and Corliss both finished the game two for three with Ashley Lynn (Riverside/Danville) picking up the win, her ninth of the year. Lynn struck out 12 and walked just one.
In the second game, the Huskies got a complete-game seven-hitter from Tara Reed in winning 5-1. Bloomsburg scored three times in the first inning with Mauro and Corliss getting RBI hits. In the fifth inning the Huskies made it 4-1 when Neyhard tripled in Corliss, while in the sixth, Reed tripled and scored on a wild-pitch.
Bloomsburg will host Holy Family University on Sunday starting at 12 noon at Hutchinson Field.
